Dr Steve Czys

I grew up on a dairy farm in Mauston, WI. As far back as I can remember, I have spent as much time as possible playing sports, hunting, fishing and just being outdoors. Playing inside, watching TV or movies just never interested me. To this day, I can’t stay awake through an entire movie.

I have always loved fitness, and have been training on a regular basis since grade school. As a child, I remember doing bicep curls with milk jugs filled with water and pullups on the monkey bars. I couldn’t wait to start high school, mainly because they had a weight room.

After high school, I decided to join the Army National Guard, to help pay for college. I then studied pre-med and business, while wrestling and playing football at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse.

Over the years, I have always trained and ate the way I was taught to be the smartest and healthiest. Sadly, so much of what I was taught, and so much of what is still taught today, is completely wrong. My sports career was cut short due to injuries that required three knee surgeries. I believe 100% that my injuries were because I was training/eating the wrong way.

I then went to Palmer Chiropractic College for my doctorate degree. I spent 3 ½ years traveling the country, playing rugby injury free! It was at Palmer that I learned the value of “functional training.” I furthered my education, becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a State Certified Nutrition Counselor. After 9 years of college and a lifetime of looking for the answers to maximizing health, I have found them.

I still remember people telling me in my 20’s, “wait until you hit 30, you won’t feel the same.” They were right, I feel so much better in my 30’s then I ever have before, because I am now living the right way. It has become my life mission to lead by example and teach people how they can reach and maintain their maximum health potential.

I decided to open Eupraxia with that mission in mind. I will teach every person the best way to train for functional health. I will teach you the way humans are genetically designed to eat, through not only common sense, but the best science on the planet.

I will ALWAYS practice what I preach and will continue to live the way I teach. I will never sell or promote any product or program unless it is something I would do myself. I will never close my mind or stop learning. I consider every person at Eupraxia a part of a family who is there to encourage and push each other to reach their goals. Thank you for being a part of our family!

UPDATE: Since originally writing the above snippet I am in my 40’s and feeling great (although with less hair). And the family has gotten 3 kiddos bigger! Eupraxia has grown to 10 locations with more on the way and our success stories are too many to count! Hopefully time slows down so the next 10 year update doesn’t come so fast!

Amber Czys

Hello! My name is Amber. I am a mom to 2 littles, wife, nurse, and Eupraxian since its very beginning.

I grew up in West Salem on a dairy farm and did gymnastics from the time I was a toddler through high school. Practicing gymnastics year round kept me in shape through high school.

As I entered college, however, the amount of exercise I was partaking in greatly decreased and my muscular body embarrassingly turned to mush; I made attempts to exercise, often running, but I lost interest and my efforts would only last a few months before going months without.

Frequently eating chicken wings, pasta, and subs did not help either. Looking back, I definitely did not understand how bad my food choices were for my body.

I graduated with my bachelors in nursing in 2010 and my masters in nursing in 2015, and have worked at Gundersen in different nursing roles since 2010. Steve and I’s relationship began as he was launching the very first Eupraxia, so I have had the privilege of training at Eupraxia since it opened in January 2012.

Learning the innate diet and lifestyle was so eye-opening for me, and it made so much sense. Shortly after opening I began leading classes. After all these years, I am still excited to go train every day.

– I credit this to the deliberately changing and challenging workouts and the fabulous members who come to train with us! Having the opportunity to support and motivate others to achieve their goals, while becoming happier and healthier, makes my heart happy 🙂

Jodi Strong

Hi guys! Jodi here- preschool teacher by day, Eupraxia trainer by night. Or early morning. 🙂I came to my love of fitness fairly recently.

Only a few years ago when I tried Eupraxia for the first time, in fact! Up until then, I had spent my life avoiding the gym and making zero effort with my nutrition. As a result, at 25 years old, at five foot four, I weighed 182 pounds. I’d finally reached a place where I had to admit to myself that something (everything?) needed to change.

Thank goodness for Eupraxia, because after a few short months there everything did start to change! I felt my goals shift from purely appearance based to “I want to be able to do _____”. I felt myself slowly starting to look forward to going to classes more and more.

I learned that if I ate junk, my workout would suffer. And that was becoming a big deal to me.Fast forward a few years and now I am so lucky to get to help people in the same way the trainers helped me when I first started.

I live helping people achieve things they think they can’t do-pushups from the floor, a heavy deadlift….the list could go on forever!I know what it’s like to feel out of shape and out of your depth.

I’m excited to help you feel strong and confident! I don’t recognize me in my photos before Eupraxia. You can check them out and learn more about my journey here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgJvcZiCVe4

Chase Sather

Hey! My name is Chase, and I am one of the several trainers here at Eupraxia. While I spend most of my time coaching and training at our awesome La Crosse location, I do enjoy getting out to our other locations every once and awhile.

I grew up just a bit North of La Crosse in Holmen, WI. I am the second youngest of four other siblings. Given I have three older siblings who are multiple years older than me, I spent most of my childhood following them along to their sporting events which was where I gained the most interest in sports and physical activity.

Fast forward a few years, in high school, I dabbled with a few different sports: basketball, baseball, cross country, and even power lifting. Through these various activities, I really enjoyed the progression and ability it took to be able to move my body in different formats. Fast forward today, I enjoy playing softball, volleyball, hiking, spending time with family, friends, and my miniature golden doodle, Maggie!

Post high school, I attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where I graduated with my business degree in 2020. I currently work full time at Kwik Trip, Inc., and I started that as my first and only job dating back to 2016. I spent most of those post high school/college years in a commercial gym doing my own workouts as I enjoy unplugging from the world and getting after a workout by myself. I never really thought I would find myself in a group fitness setting until I found Eupraxia in 2023.

Ironically, I was going to the gym with my girlfriend (pictured), and it was actually her who wanted to pursue a change, so I said why not and let’s try something new. We were the typical first week of January joiners to the gym, but immediately we connected with Amber and Steve (owners), and other members who had been at the gym for either 1 month or even 10 years. I haven’t looked back since, which was the reason for me wanting to join the coaching staff at Eupraxia.

I’ll leave you with this - if you’re looking for a place that is going to test your mental and physical limits, you’ve come to the right place. Every workout is very taxing, and it is 100% what you make of it here. Hope to see you soon! ~ Chase

Grace (The Face) Ellison

Hi! I'm Grace, and I'm currently a graduate student in Physical Therapy at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse as well as one of the trainers at Eupraxia! I completed my Exercise Sports Science Bachelor’s degree at UWL, where I was also a student-athlete on the Women’s Golf Team.

Originally from the Chicago suburbs, I came to La Crosse for college and quickly fell in love with the community here. Outside of Eupraxia, you can usually find me studying, hanging out with friends and family, or on the golf course! :)

I began my journey at Eupraxia in February 2025 and started coaching classes a few months later. As a former collegiate athlete, staying active has always been important to me—but I know how challenging it can be to stay consistent, especially with a busy schedule.

One thing I love about Eupraxia is how the workouts are all planned out for you. Having that structure and variety keeps me motivated and excited to show up each day—not knowing what the workout will be adds a fun surprise that I genuinely enjoy!

Even though I’m still fairly new to Eupraxia, it’s crazy how quickly it’s changed my life. My goals have shifted from just staying active to becoming stronger, more energized, and more consistent. And now, I’m passionate about helping others do the same.

Whether I’m working out or teaching, I always try to bring positivity and an uplifting attitude to every class. What makes Eupraxia so special is how welcoming and supportive the environment is. It’s a place where everyone is encouraged to get stronger and healthier.

As a nutrition minor in college, I also have a passion for whole, nourishing foods—and I think Eupraxia’s food plans are such an awesome resource to support a healthy life.

I’m so excited to be part of this team and hope to help others find the same motivation, strength, and joy in movement that I’ve found here! - Grace

Katie Stelloh

Hey there! I have been coaching/training for about 2 years now and love to see the success stories that havecome out of this awesome gym.

I grew up on a horse farm in La Crosse, WI where I was always busy doing chores and taking people out on horseback rides. As a kid, I was always active on the farm and sports. I played soccer throughout middle and high school and now coach my 10-year-

old daughter’s soccer team. I also played volleyball in middle school and danced on thehigh school dance team throughout high school.

After high school, I went to college and my exercise quickly declined. I fell in the groove of just eating all the junk food, doing what I wanted and not really taking care of my body. I quickly saw the pounds add on and was starting to see a different person in the

mirror. I knew I needed a change, so I started running as my exercise.

While I quickly learned that it was not for me, I felt defeated.

When I got engaged in 2011, I knew I needed to do something to make me feel good in my wedding dress. I went back to running, started counting calories and watching food intake. I lost about 20 pounds in that year leading up to my wedding. I was happy with

losing weight and thought I could keep that going after the wedding, but that stopped really quick after our honeymoon. I fell back into old habits and put weight back on.

After having 2 kids, I knew I needed another change and didn’t want to do the calorie counting anymore because it was just not sustainable. My good friend and one of the owners of Eupraxia, Amber, kept telling me to come try the gym out to see if it was

something that would work for me. She was certain that I would like it and that I would see results.

In October of 2018, I thought I would give it a try! I’m so glad that I did because now I will be a Eupraxia member for life. I started seeing the muscle definition in my arms and felt the strength throughout my entire body! I improved my eating habits

and that has also helped me tremendously. Feeding my body the proper fuel to make me feel better has been a huge help in my weight loss journey.

I am proud to show my kids that eating healthy will keep you feeling good and strong. You do not need to work out for hours to get the results you want. The workouts here are only 35-40 minutes. You not only leave feeling stronger, but you also gain so much confidence in yourself.

Everyone is in there for the same reason, to look and feel better.

Gaining friendships in the process is also a great plus! If you are on the fence aboutgiving it a try, I highly encourage you to try it out! You will be so happy you did. Hope to see you in the gym!

Angie Burns

My name is Angie, and I started at Eupraxia almost 10 years ago (when I was in my early 40s). I have had a love of exercise my entire life and built home homemade weights with my brother out of coffee cans and cement when we were in middle school.

I studied physical education and Clinical Exercise Physiology at UW-La Crosse and have a 3rd-degree black belt in karate. I was a fitness and youth sports director for a YMCA in Connecticut before moving back to La Crosse for graduate school.

Some of my favorite things about Eupraxia are that all classes are led by encouraging and qualified instructors, and that the atmosphere is inviting and supportive.

One of the most important things that I have learned from Steve is that you can out-exercise a bad diet. And when I eat poorly, I feel poorly.

If you are interested in feeling good and being the best version of yourself, Eupraxia is the place for you!

"I always used to see phrases like “more than just a gym” and “life changing” and I thought they were lame cliches that folks threw around that didn’t mean much of anything.

Eupraxia showed me what they mean.

Before signing up, I had tried most of the stuff out there-shakes, DVD programs, even those scary diet pills (yikes). Inevitably, I cheated or lost interest and quit.

Now, going to class to workout is the best part of my day! Not only did I lose weight and learn what it means to truly be healthy (both great things), but my entire mindset has changed. I find myself thinking in terms of “I can do that, too” or “I can’t do that YET”. I set goals and achieve them, I think about food as a fuel for what I want to do (another phrase I always thought was a cliche), and I do all of that because of the incredible trainers and resources at Eupraxia.

Hands down, having the trainers is why i was able to be successful. Feedback, encouragement, and tough love! I tell everyone to try this gym-they won’t regret it!"

"By the end of the challenge, I lost 19.5 pounds and I was virtually pain free (besides the soreness from my workouts but that pain was welcomed). Now it has been about 20 months since starting Eupraxia and I am off my hypertension medication, down 85 pounds and still pain free.

The most rewarding part of my lifestyle change happened February 2019. My Seasonal Depression hit me hard this past winter so my mother generously took me on a mini vacation to Florida. The condo we rented was on the second floor with steep stairs.

My mom automatically started taking my luggage to haul up to our home for the week because she was so used to my back pain prohibiting me from lifting or carrying things.

But I shook my head, took my luggage from her and carried not only my luggage but hers as well. She was amazed. And I was thrilled. Not only because I could finally carry my own weight but I was so happy that I could bless my mother in this way. It was a great reminder to her and to myself that as she got older, I would be able to take care of her.

Now when I look in the mirror, I finally see myself again. My dreams seem attainable and I feel physically equipped to go where ever God has called me. And that is huge!"
